Remote Teaching Auditoriums

SSE Riga provides auditoriums for teaching in an online or hybrid format. These auditoriums are equipped with all the necessary equipment for an online lecture or seminar (see specifics below).

It is suggested to visit and acquaint with room setup before your first lecture or seminar. For specific technical arrangements, contact IT Department before the course starts.

Also don't forget to contact academic programme administration about room availability and booking them for your activities in advance.

W32 auditorium

W32 auditorium is equipped with audio and video hardware well suited for hybrid lectures.

W32 auditorium allows for interaction between on-premises faculty/students and remote participants. Remote participants will be able to see and hear the whole auditorium as well be seen and heard in the auditorium.

  • Equipment: Auditorium and lecturer microphones; auditorium and lecturer cameras; speakers for hearing remote participants; displays for viewing remote participants

You can use either the provided auditorium laptop or your own laptop or both. In either case video, sound and cameras will need to be connected and checked before you can start your lecture.

Setting up:

  1. Connect USB cable labelled "AUDIO" to the laptop

    • Make sure both microphone and speakers are set to "Biamp"

  2. Connect USB cable labelled "CAMERAS" to the laptop

    • Make sure camera is set to "CYP USB video device"

    • Use a USB hub (provided in auditorium) if needed

  3. Connect HDMI and USB cable labelled "SMARTBOARD" to a laptop to show your screen on the TVs in auditorium.

Soros auditorium

Soros auditorium is suited for non-interactive lectures with many students.

Soros auditorium allows for remote participants to see and hear the lecturer but interaction between on-premises lecturer/students and remote participants is limited.

  • Capacity: 130 people

  • Equipment: Lecturer microphone; lecturer camera; displays for viewing remote participants

You can use either the provided auditorium laptop or your own laptop or both. In either case video, sound and camera will need to be connected and checked before you can start your lecture.

Setting up:

  1. Connect USB cable labelled "CAMERA & AUDIO" to the laptop

    • Make sure both microphone and speakers are set to "USB Audio Device"

    • Make sure camera is set to "Camlink 4K"

  2. Connect HDMI cable labelled "Lecturer Laptop" to a laptop to show your screen on the projector in auditorium

    • If needed, connect HDMI cable labelled "Guest Laptop" to show laptop screen on the TVs located in auditorium

Room 311

Room 311 is suited for non-interactive lectures with fewer students.

Room 311 allows for remote participants to see and hear the lecturer but interaction between on-premises lecturer/students and remote participants is limited.

  • Capacity: 55 people

  • Equipment: Lecturer camera; displays for viewing remote participants

You can use either the provided auditorium laptop or your own laptop. In either case video, sound and camera will need to be connected and checked before you can start your lecture.

Setting up:

  1. Connect cable labelled "AUDIO" to the laptop

  2. Connect USB cable labelled "CAMERA" to the laptop

    • Make sure camera is set to "Camlink 4K"

    • Use a USB hub (provided in auditorium) if needed

  3. Connect HDMI cable labelled "VIDEO" to the laptop to show your screen on the projector in auditorium

    • If needed, your screen can be shown on the TVs located in auditorium. Please contact IT Department before the lecture.

Room 507

Room 507 is best suited for hybrid seminars or lectures with a smaller amount of participants, with participants both on-premises and online and all participants expected to join in on activities.

  • Capacity: 25 people

  • Equipment: Lecturer and auditorium microphones; auditorium camera; projector

You can use either the provided auditorium laptop or your own laptop. In either case video, sound and camera will need to be connected and checked before you can start your lecture.

Setting up:

  1. Connect USB cable labelled "LOGITECH" to the laptop

    • Make sure both microphone and speakers are set to "Logitech Rally"

    • Make sure camera is set to "Logitech Rally"

  2. Connect HDMI cable "PROJECTOR" to the laptop to show your screen on the projector in auditorium

Room 515

Room 515 is a conference room well suited for fully remote activities. This room can be used for organizing fully remote lectures and seminars.

  • Capacity: 1 lecturer

  • Equipment: Lecturer microphone, lecturer camera, display for viewing remote participants, lighting equipment

Room 515 is set up with a working space for a single lecturer. This room is not equipped with a laptop as you would be expected to use your own laptop.

Setting up:

  1. Connect USB cable labelled "CAMERA" to the laptop

    • Make sure camera is set to "Logitech Webcam 925e"

  2. Connect USB cable labelled "AUDIO" to the laptop

    • Make sure microphone is set to "GXT 258 Microphone"

  3. Connect HDMI cable "TV" to the laptop to show your screen on the display

Room 213

Room 213 is a conference room well suited for fully remote activities. This room can be used for organizing fully remote lectures and seminars.

  • Capacity: 1 or more lecturers

  • Equipment: Lecturer microphone, lecturer camera, display for viewing remote participants

Room 213 is set up for one or few lecturers in a small conference room setup. This room is not equipped with a laptop as you would be expected to use your own laptop.

Setting up:

  1. Connect USB cable labelled "CAMERA" to the laptop

    • Make sure camera is set to "Logitech Webcam C930e"

  2. Connect USB cable labelled "AUDIO" to the laptop

    • Make sure both microphone and speakers are set to "Phnx Quattro3"

  3. Connect HDMI cable "TV" to the laptop to show your screen on the display
